Borrowed Collection Bride: April April 16 2015, 0 Comments

When it comes to bridal style, we happen to think that The Borrowed Collection has some of the most fashionable brides around! Our new blog series, Borrowed Collection Brides, will share our brides' incredible style with you, as well as their tips on how to create the perfect bridal look while staying true to your own unique bridal style.
Meet April, our first and oh-so stylish Borrowed Collection Bride to be featured! April & Justin tied the knot last summer, at an intimate wedding at The Teahouse in Stanley Park, in Vancouver.

From the moment we met April, we were excited to contribute to the unique bridal look that she was looking to create. (Also, we happen to have a love for everything Truvelle, and April had chosen to wear their Rochelle gown in rose gold!)

April wanted to accessorize her dress with rose gold jewelry and we had the perfect complement in the Vintage Drop II Crystal Earrings in golden shadow by Haute Bride. In order to ensure her look was exactly how she envisioned it, April also had a gorgeous custom necklace created by Haute Bride.
The Ella Clutch by Davie & Chiyo paired perfectly with April's sequined wedding dress. April also chose the perfect floral palette to compliment her blush chiffon skirt, which was beautifully brought to life by Society Floral.

Nothing says "laid-back bride" like flats, and since every piece April chose was pitch perfect, we aren't surprised she chose the Tracie Sandals by Kate Spade.
April shares the story behind her beautiful engagement ring: "It has a yellow gold band, oval stone, and four-prong platinum setting. We had a very clear vision of the design I wanted -which I was unable to find anywhere! In the end, my husband sourced the stone online & the setting was via Blue Nile."
“How would you describe your personal wedding style, in relation to fashion & beauty?”
April: "Choosing a wedding style is, simultaneously, one of the most enjoyable & most stressful things a girl can do. For myself, I was drawn to so many different wedding styles-classic & sophisticated, ethereal & bohemian, sweet & gardenparty-esque, modern & striking—how can you be expected to decide?! And the cruelest catch? You only get to do it once!"
"Well, expectedly, the direction I took with my wedding style was fairly eclectic. I decided to incorporate all of my favourite styles, as seamlessly as I could. Overall, the wedding was quite sophisticated: hors d'oeuvres & drinks served under the night sky, hanging lights, gorgeous florals, and my groom in a tux. I carried that vibe into my personal style with my jewelry selections, my classic French twist updo, and my soft makeup. Our wedding also offered a touch of the ethereal & the garden-esque with hanging bud vases, hanging lights, and taking place primarily out-of-doors. I channeled that quality into my personal style with my romantic, blush chiffon dress. And finally, I wanted to incorporate a touch of the modern. Not only did my husband and I decide to walk down the aisle together, I also chose to wear a rose-hued gown with a rose-gold sequined bodice."
"So I guess if I were to narrow it down, my personal wedding style was a mixture of the sophisticated & the ethereal, with a touch of the modern—which translated into a classic updo, a romantic chiffon dress, and a splash of rose gold sequins!"
April's groom, Justin, certainly needs a shout out for his own impeccable style, including his perfectly tailored Indochino tux.
"Now that you’ve 'been there, done that', do you have any tips or advice for other brides, when it comes to putting your wedding look together?"
"Define a clear vision of what it is exactly that you want to emulate. Classic sophistication? Modern edge? Effortlessly chic? Romantic & goddess-like? In my experience, the difficulty with planning your bridal look (or planning your wedding!) is that there are so many beautiful creative directions you could choose to go with it. (I still find myself daydreaming about what other beautiful weddings & looks I would design if we were to do it again!)"
"For the longest time I couldn't even decide if I should wear my hair up or down & I found it SO stressful. (I mean, you only get married once, there’s no room for mistakes! Right?!) Then I came to my senses: go with what you've always envisioned & don’t worry so much about making a “mistake”––because, seriously, whoever looked at a bride with anything other than awe?"
"So my advice is (1) define a clear vision; (2) run with it; and (3) don’t be afraid to make it your own!"
Our thanks to April for sharing her wonderful tips with us; we hope you've enjoyed her advice as much as we did. And here's to April & Justin, we think the future is very bright for this stylish couple!
