Style Advice: How to Choose Your Wedding Veil

June 20, 2026

You’ve found the perfect dress and now it’s time to choose the perfect veil to match. When brides visit our Vancouver showroom, we all too often see brides view the sea of tulle on our veil wall, with a look that says, “Where in the world do I begin?”

Not to worry lovelies, we’ve broken choosing your veil down into one easy rule: Mood is EVERYTHING!

Choosing a veil based on mood...

The mood sets the overall tone for your wedding, as well as your bridal look. As far as we are concerned, it’s also everything when it comes to choosing the veil. Your walk down the aisle will be the first place that your wedding guests will see you, so you want to make sure your look evokes the right emotion. So, how does mood translate into choosing your veil? Whether your wedding will be playful, laid-back, sophisticated, perfectly on trend, or bohemian, there's a veil for you!

Playful

Short veils are perfect for playful brides! There is a fun and fancy-free vibe to short veils that fun-loving brides will adore. Short veils are easy to wear and carefree; just pop it in and get your marry on!

Laid-Back

You love the classic tradition idea of a veil, but hate a fuss. As a low-key bride, you want to be able to put your bridal look together and not think about it again for the rest of the day. When simplicity is key, a fingertip or waltz length veil is the answer. A mid-length veil won’t need to be re-arranged as you move and will look great in photos of your ring and your bouquet.

Sophisticated

Jackie-O and Princess Di are style icons you admire for their classic beauty. You’ve chosen a lace sheath, classic A-line dress or perhaps a tulle ball gown that reads elegant and sophisticated and understated is a charmed word in your books. A pension for clean and classic translates perfectly into a chapel or cathedral veil. Because less is often more when you want the dress to speak for itself, we think you will love a veil with a hand-cut edge.

Off the Moment

SATC forever. Carrie Bradshaw is queen in your books and your friends know you for wearing the fashion item of the moment. As any trend-loving bride will know, ever-changing times mean that the veil of moment will inevitably change year after year, but for today’s bride, an on-point statement veil would be a drop veil (below) or mantilla veil. Both make beautiful statements, in slightly different ways.

Bohemian

The mountains and open land call to you and your groom. Places like North Arm Farm in Saanich, BC are your version of wedding venue heaven and you will be wearing an easy sheath dress, because no dress is going to keep you from the fun. You will want a no-fuss veil (and stunning headpiece) to match!
